As a rider, how much time and effort do you put into the care of your horse? Are you aware that your movements can directly impact your horse's way of going, especially if you are recovering from an injury or a background niggle?

It's your turn ... little and often is the key. During the Covid 19 pandemic, I learnt just how accumulative this exercise method really is. Delivering Pilates online helped me feel and see the benefits when we had the time to practice daily.

I know time is scarce when horses are mentioned but even a few homework exercises completed prior to riding will make a huge difference in your ability to breathe well, apply clear aids, remain in balance when turning corners, powering across the arena or recovering following an awkward jump.

Pilates comes into its own when helping you recover fully from injury. This is why I started my Pilates journey. Now let me help with your journey.

I work with riders who enjoy hacking with an odd intro test through to elite competition riders.

The Pilates Reformer

The Reformer is probably the most popular piece of Pilates equipment. It offers a variety of movements in different positions, is the most versatile, and is great fun! Exercises range from beginner through to advanced and include all positions, even offering cardiovascular exercise and plyometrics with the use of the jump board. Another huge bonus is for those rehabilitating from an injury as you can be positioned to remove gravity allowing earlier progressions of weight bearing and you can keep other areas of your body fit and strong while recovering.

The Pilates Chair

The chair or "wunda" chair is another original piece of equipment first created by Joseph Pilates, originally designed to fit comfortably into small New York apartments. The chair is perfect for enhancing sports performance. With many exercises carried out in standing or seated, this challenging piece of equipment lends itself perfectly to help riders.

How does the Reformer and Chair help your riding?

Combining movement assessments, sitting on the saddle horse and / or watching videos of you ride, work through bespoke exercises on the reformer and the chair to help achieve YOUR specific goals. Take home a few rider specific exercises, perfect for those of you who don't have much time. This is for you if you'd like ...

  • an effective posture
  • to apply clearer aids
  • to absorb your horses movement
  • increased strength, stability and movement
  • to be an easy load to carry
  • improved recovery and prevent injury
  • improved breathing
  • to reduce tension
  • improved cardio fitness
  • Blue House Pilates
